Cat’s eye beads have a luster called chatoyancy. They have a strong directional grain, distinguishing them from stain beads. Cat’s eye beads are made from fiber optic threads.

Satin beads, on the other hand, are lustrous and grainy. A mineral or powder is added to the glass to achieve the satiny appearance. There isn’t a strong directional grain with satin beads.
